Yesterday, we concluded the spiritual retreat in preparation for our V Provincial Chapter. Father Angel Candia, MSpS, invited us to imitate Our Blessed Mother Mary in her visitation to Saint Elizabeth. Like Mary in the Visitation, when we meet others, they experience the treasure that God has placed in us. Where, being grateful, she recognizes the greatness of the Lord by placing her gaze on her. Thus, we are in a historical moment of the Congregation and Province where the Lord has set his gaze on each one to work on his project. Like Mary, we were invited to be docile to the Spirit in this Chapter that we began, to live grateful for the beautiful vocation God has called us. At 3:00 pm. we met in the chapel to officially begin the works of our V Provincial Chapter. There, we read the consecration made by the first MSpS novices in the Chapel of the Roses on the morning of December 25, 1914. The day we were founded at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This consecration helped us to connect with the roots of the Congregation that we call mother. Then we all process our library chanting the Veni Creator Spiritus. Already in the library, Fr. Roberto Saldívar MSpS took the floor to thank the members of the Province for our journey in the five-year period that we are closing and especially the members of his council for their response in the time that Fr. sick. After the words of Fr. Roberto, Fr. José Luis Loyola, MSpS, declared open the V Provincial Chapter. Father José Luis invited us to be highly docile to the Holy Spirit at this time so that we make this Chapter a cenacle for a new Pentecost. Once the Chapter was declared open, the logistics of the Chapter continued, and thus we have gone from preparation to Chapter action. In the afternoon, we celebrated the Eucharist presided by Fr. José Luis Loyola, MSpS, our newly-elected Superior General. The Father invited us to appreciate the readings of the day as a light for what we will live in the Chapter. He asked us to live this Congregational stage learning very aware of our reality and very grateful for what God has done in us, and especially because, like the Hebrew people, God has not left us alone at any time. The Father invited us to practice listening to each other and what the current sociocultural reality offers us, especially those we work with directly. Father José Luis invited us to be grateful to God for the much life that God has given us and that we should not be thankful for. The Father asked God that we can live this Chapter at the feet of Jesus to show us who we are. Likewise, the Father asked that God give us the grace to live in gratitude with God and others for everything we have received.
