(A letter by Venerable Felix of Jesus Rougier to the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit)
"Anyone who does not have a passionate devotion to the Blessed Virgin, our Mother, is not a Missionary of the Holy Spirit.
Although he may wear the holy habit, the scapular with its mysterious monogram, the symbolic white cloak, he is not a Missionary of the Holy Spirit.
Although he may be wise, zealous to no avail, and very active in all the ministries he was entrusted with by holy obedience, if he does not have ardent devotion to Mary, he is not a Missionary of the Holy Spirit.
If he does not love Mary as a true son, with tender and deep love, he does not love God as he should either.
And how can he be the beloved of Jesus, as he has promised us?
Only the devotee of Mary can aspire to be loved by Jesus and the same extent of his love for Mary.
In the kind of love due to Mary, our Model is Jesus.
Oh Jesus, just as you loved Mary, make me love her!
The Missionary of the Holy Spirit who does not cherish in his heart a solid and enthusiastic love for Mary is like a bird that strives to fly without wings.
A Missionary of the Holy Spirit must firmly believe that he will not do any solid good to souls without a special devotion to Mary.
Love for our Blessed Mother is one of the main elements of our congregation's "beloved color"!"
