The Holy Father, Pope Francis, has died. According to Vatican News,

Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Camerlengo of the Holy Roman Church, announced the death of Pope Francis from the Casa Santa Marta with these words: "Dearest brothers and sisters, with deep sorrow I must announce the death of our Holy Father Francis. At 7:35 this morning [Monday, April 21], the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the house of the Father.

It is meaningful that God called him to himself as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Please join us in giving thanks to God for his life of service to the Church, his example of compassionate love for humanity and humility, his leadership, and in praying for his eternal repose.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
