Rev. Alexandro Rubio, MSpS, was elected as the new Provincial Vicar of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, Christ the Priest Province, by the Provincial Chapter in Long Beach, CA, on Wednesday, July 28.
As Provincial Vicar, Fr. Alex Rubio will support the work of the Provincial Superior, will advise on important matters. If the Provincial Superior is absent, the Vicar has the authority to make decisions.
A native of El Paso, Texas, Fr. Alex was born on May 30, 1979, and is one of three children. Fr. Alex earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Washington in 2002. In 2004. He entered the Congregation on July 29, 2006, professed First Vows. In May of 2008, he received his Masters in Divinity from the University of Notre Dame, and took Final Vows on March 3, 2014. He received a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Portland State University in June of 2012. He was ordained to the priesthood on September 19, 2015.
Before his election, Fr. Alex was Rector at the House of Studies of our Congregation and collaborated as Spiritual Director and Counselor at Mt. Angel Seminary. He formerly served as associate pastor at St. Matthew Catholic Church, in Hillsboro, Oregon.
