Ulysses Plascencia

My story begins in Imperial, California, where I’m originally from.

I grew up at the Saint Anthony of Padua parish, being an altar boy from a young age. I remember that helping the priests was something I enjoyed a lot, and I especially enjoyed witnessing the consecration at mass. It was a mystery that captivated me immensely, so much so, that I began playing to be a priest. As I grew older I kept serving in the parish in other ministries, with Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion being my last service before entering the Postulancy.
 
The presence of Christ in the Eucharist has always been a mystery that has called me, and I think it's one of the reasons why I am a Missionary of the Holy Spirit. When I began having existential/vocational uncertainties, I would go to weekly Eucharistic Adoration in my parish. That’s when things started to become clear, and my discernment process took strength. Now it’s a major part of my life and I can’t conceive it without an ‘intimate and constant union’ with Him in the Eucharist.

"La presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía siempre ha sido un misterio que me ha llamado..."

Mi historia comienza en Imperial, California, de donde soy originario.

Crecí en la parroquia San Antonio de Padua, siendo monaguillo desde muy joven. Recuerdo que ayudar a los sacerdotes era algo que disfrutaba mucho, y disfruté especialmente presenciar la consagración en la misa. Fue un misterio que me cautivó inmensamente, tanto que comencé a jugar a ser sacerdote. A medida que crecí seguí sirviendo en la parroquia en otros ministerios, siendo Ministro Extraordinario de la Sagrada Comunión mi último servicio antes de ingresar al Postulantado.

La presencia de Cristo en la Eucaristía siempre ha sido un misterio que me ha llamado, y creo que es una de las razones por las que soy Misionero del Espíritu Santo. Cuando comencé a tener incertidumbres existenciales/vocacionales, iba a la Adoración Eucarística semanal en mi parroquia. Fue entonces cuando las cosas empezaron a aclararse y mi proceso de discernimiento tomó fuerza. Ahora es una parte importante de mi vida y no puedo concebirla sin una “íntima y constante unión” con Él en la Eucaristía.
